book cover: ...God Help Us...

Few people today are aware of the contribution made by the tiny Channel Island of Guernsey to the Great War of 1914-1918. Some 3,000 young Guernseymen served in France and Belgium, in the six units which were raised in the island. The roll call of their names is a check-list of every island family.

The author has spent more than 10 years researching the Guernseymen who made up the six local units. The result is a record of the activities of each unit and a listing for every man, with details of his service and wounds.

Historians, genealogists and medal collectors will find Diex Aïx a vital research tool. Guernsey families will be able to trace their forefathers who marched away, many of them never to return

Major Edwin Parks, late of the Royal Horse Artillery, is a full-time journalist with the Guernsey Evening Press.
