This dig in the heart of St Peter Port's commercial district revealed that the area had been in use since Roman times. The rich array of finds were apparently related to the type of opulent town houses which would have stood around this site. The finds included ornate building materials, as well as pottery, clay tobacco pipes and coins from both France and England. |
